David Xu

Back in January 2020, he confirmed that belief with his performance in the British Physics Olympiad, where he achieved Gold. This award, which is only awarded to the top 2% of global entries, is also "the icing on the cake" for David's application to the world's top science and engineering universities.
His physics teacher Jason said, "David is not very talkative, but he often has a rich imagination according to certain knowledge points in class, which broadens my horizon as a teacher. In 11th grade, I recommended to him the English version of Feynman's physics lecture, which he devoured bit by bit every day. For more than a year, he would talk to me whenever he could."
Such a fanatical attitude towards physics enabled David to finish all the physics and chemistry courses of AS when he was in grade 11, and follow his classmates in grade 12 to learn A2 courses. Therefore, the academic results David submitted when applying for university were very "beautiful" - A Level Math A*, A Level Chemistry A*, A Level Physics A*, AS Advanced Math A, AS Economics A, IELTS 7.5!

“Now many people will say that I am a dark horse. People love to be surprised by the unexpectedness of the dark horse. But who would care about the person before he finally became a dark horse?
This is exactly what I’m most thankful for HD. It will help the already outstanding students to become better, but more importantly – it will never abandon anyone, including students that take time to get on “the right track” like me. The school has been patient, and also tolerant. It has tolerated the mistakes I’ve made at such a young age, and has also given me enough time to understand and correct the mistakes. Before I became a dark horse, it had already lent me full support!”

It’s important to manage your time and plan your life, and you shall believe that everyone deserves a better future as long as you work hard for it. When I apply for Mount Holyoke College, I learnt that this is the very first liberal arts women's college in the United States, and it is also the alma mater of the first Chinese American Department Secretary Elaine Chao. Its motto is: Go where no one else will go, do what no one else will do. In my application letter, I have written about my experience of building HD Theatre Company, and I have particularly mentioned my feeling of playing Fanyi in the Thunderstorm expressing my understanding of the character’s struggle among her three roles as mother, wife and lover, which has touched the admission officers.
